HAYWOOD Village Academy’s pupils, parents, and carers have once again come together to collect food for the Weston Food Bank, continuing their longstanding tradition of supporting the local community.
At this time of year, the school invites families to contribute to a foodbank initiative, aimed at helping families of children attending the school, as well as providing essential support to Weston-super-Mare’s wider Foodbank.
Donations collected include a wide range of essential items such as dried food (cereals, rice, pasta), tinned goods, and toiletries.
These contributions play a vital role in ensuring that families have access to necessities, and that the stock is regularly maintained throughout the year.
Haywood Village Academy has also benefitted from additional support from local supermarkets such as Asda and Morrisons in the past, which have generously helped boost foodbank supplies.
Craig Jones, principal of Haywood Village Academy said: "Our school’s assembly programme helps children explore and understand the work of charities.
“We aim for our students to not only understand but also actively support others in need.
“This initiative aligns with our school values, which the children know and live by every day."
