Stanley's Garden in Worle has beaten 400 other entries to win the RHS Gordon Ford Trophy.
The modest community space has been recognised for its dynamic use of an area where gardening helps many groups with various challenges.
RHS judge Terry Porter visited the garden twice and said: "This is an outstanding facility, the best of many that I have seen.
"It has won the best 2024 'It’s Your Neighbourhood' from some 400 entries.
"I found it difficult not to award full marks.
"It is a very dynamic setting and continually is changing."
David Skidmore, whose family owns the land, began the project in 2020 with the help of local volunteers.
He said: "It was both humbling and amazing to be presented with several awards at the Royal Horticultural Society's southwest awards ceremony.
"I am excited that our community has been recognised for its hard work in creating Stanley's Garden and for what the future might bring."
The mayor of Weston-super-Mare, councillor John Crockford-Hawley, added: "This is just the sort of community initiative that is so important, offering a quiet and friendly environment where anxiety can be put to one side, it's truly wonderful.
"David Skidmore and friends are to be congratulated for their excellent work in Worle."
