VOLUNTEERS are joining the council’s team to put the finishing touches to a restored green space in Weston-super-Mare.

People are going to help North Somerset Council’s Parks and Countryside Ranger team to complete works on the Madeira Cove Gardens.

The community is encouraged to join in this rewarding day, completing months of hard work that has revitalised this local green space which has brought a vibrant mix of wildflowers, aromatic herbs, and biodiverse plant life to Madeira Cove Gardens.

This event provides an opportunity to engage in “gardening for wildlife,” painting (please wear appropriate clothing if you would like to paint) and restoring garden structures, and helping organise volunteer storage.

Gardening gloves and tools will be provided, and no previous experience is necessary.

North Somerset Council thanks the many volunteers who have enhanced the natural beauty of our region’s largest town and also helped create a sustainable habitat for wildlife.

The team is currently undertaking an inventory of trees, plants, and shrubs to support ongoing biodiversity monitoring.

Councillor Mike Solomon, North Somerset Council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: "This project not only enhances our green spaces but also strengthens community ties and supports our environmental ambitions.
