Three brothers from Weston shone at the World United Martial Arts National Championships in Birmingham recently.
Josh Cawte took gold in his Elite under-135cm continuous category, with his younger brother Ryan finishing just behind him and claimed a silver medal, after he was promoted from his Elite under-125cm, the only entrant in that category.
Josh, 9, also took the silver in the points category where he produced some very good head and body kicks to defeat several opponents on his route to the final.
Liam took bronze in the continuous category and finished in fourth place in the points category, where both times he was defeated by the winner.
“For me it’s always a proud moment watching my boys compete, something very few people have the courage to do,” said father Will.
“(It’s) nice for Josh to go one better than he has managed previously and to get the winners trophy, ensuring that all three have won a national or international competition with only one national event left this year.
“The boys put a lot of hard work into their training, a minimum of twice a week and additional sessions in the month building up to a competition.”
