Seth Gould claimed victory in Weston Tennis Club's annual junior tournament, kindly sponsored by Christopher's House of Chocolates, recently.
The event was played in a round-robin format with two groups of three players. In Box A, Yuna Byron, who caught the eye by playing some inspired tennis, won both her matches to qualify comfortably for the semi-finals.
Her younger brother Lennox showed glimpses of his talents on his way to the semi-finals.
In Box B all matches were closely contested and the players showed excellent shots and athleticism, but it was Gould and Joe Cunningham who completed line up.
Both matches were good to watch and were dominated by Byron and Gould. The final did not disappoint either as Gould won the first tie break 10-5. The second tie break was a much closer affair with Byron fighting hard only to be pipped 11-9 by Gould who claimed the title.
Head coach Jamie Allen presented the trophies and thanked all the youngsters for taking part. The club also passed on their thanks to sponsor Christopher Hawkins for his generous support.
Allen holds regular junior sessions throughout the week. For more information on membership options and coaching please call him on 07790 937448 or visit the club website Clubspark.lta.org/WestonTennisClub.
