A six-year-old from Somerset Kickboxing Academy won the Welsh National Kickboxing Championship at a competition in Pontypool in Wales recently.
Ryan Cawte, who was one of nine taken by the Academy, won his quarter-final, semi-final and the final all by stoppage with some excellently coordinated attacks at the The Welsh Rumble.
Father Will Cawte hailed the high-flying youngster’s display in South Wales.
He said: "We are all really proud of Ryan, his family and his kickboxing club, he is taking his purple belt before his seventh birthday and is on course to be a very young black belt.
"To be selected to represent your country at any age is a huge achievement but to do it at just six-years-old is incredible.
"Alongside a lot of natural talent he is extremely focused in class and keen to learn new techniques.
Ryan, along with brothers Liam and Josh have been selected to compete for England at the World Kickboxing Championships in September 2023 at a venue in Greece.
