Anticipating the start of the Wimbledon fortnight, Cheddar Tennis Club held a monthly intra club tournament last Saturday.
The competition was well supported by members and a total of eighty-eight games were played in blustery winds throughout the afternoon. Despite the challenging conditions the fun and friendly tournament was enjoyed by all.
At the end of play a cream tea was served and the winning pair Ruth Rogers and Bailey Axon and runners-up Denise Davidson and Jamie Franklin-Smith were presented with a punnet of strawberries each.
The Knickerbocker Glory tournament will take place on Saturday August 5.
On Sunday July 9, the club will be holding an open day from 10am to 4pm.and welcomes adults and children to experience the excellent facilities at its Sharpham Road courts.
If you are looking to improve your fitness, return to tennis or try it for the first time, come along and see what the club has to offer. Racquets and balls will be provided, and club coach Stephen Pearce will be on hand to offer advice and information.
