Woodland Tennis Club’s juniors finished off their summer season in style by holding an awards evening recently.
Up first, though, was the red ball for children aged eight and under who did a series of skill's challenges such as a fitness circuit, running with the ball balanced on their racket, serving at a target, hitting forehands and backhands, earning points for each task.
In the green ball tournament Rocco narrowly beat Cherry in three close sets after a close and exciting match.
The yellow ball tournament saw Stan take on Daniel. The first set was very closely fought which Stan narrowly won. Stan grew in confidence and won the second set more easily. Daniel's consistency was not enough against the power and speed of Stan.
The awards evening brought the players along with their families and friends back to the Club for a BBQ and some social play.
This saw the parents get a chance to rally and play some games with their children.
At the end of the evening coaches Tom Deverson and Junior Coordinator, Rachel Oxley, handed out the cups and trophies to the winners.
Everyone had a lovely time and Woodland was very proud to show off the juniors' achievements.
