Following on from a narrow victory in the 2022 final over local rivals Weston-super Mare, Worlebury retained the Somerset Bowl with a comfortable win over Cricket St Thomas in blustery conditions at Clevedon Golf Club recently.
Lead pair Alix Kew and Mark Otterburn made a strong start winning 3&2, next in the clubhouse were recently crowned club champion Joe Dale and partner Troy Young winning by the same margin.
With the middle matches involving the pairs of Simon Dempsey and Terry Santo, and Gareth Hawkes and Ryan Jones still in the balance.
It was down to team captain James Marshall and his partner Craig Conway to settle the tie with a comfortable 4&2 win finishing on the spectacular 16th hole to bring the trophy home for another year.
It has been a strong finish for the clubs mens teams with both Worlebury Royals A and B winning their respective divisions in the Avalon Golf League.
This resulted in both teams qualifying for the end of season Western Daily Press Trophy played between all the Divisional Winners at Isle of Wedmore Golf Club. For the first time in the clubs history Worlebury Royals A took the title by three points.
