SOMERSET County Cricket Club has appointed a new head grounds person starting immediately.
Nick Pepper has been named as the Club’s new head groundsman after serving as deputy to Scott Hawkins.
He brings with him First-Class experience having previously worked at Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.
After accepting the role, he said: “I’m very grateful to Somerset for giving me this opportunity, and this has been my career goal since I started in the industry. For me, progression is key when it comes to success, and there are many elements to that.
“I’m driven to create elite playing surfaces that produce high quality cricket and a winning team. A vital element of that will be working closely with the players and coaching staff as well as supporting and upskilling our grounds team.
"I want us to have a reputation for producing great pitches and facilities, developing people and having a winning team on the field, with the ground staff playing a key part in trophy winning campaigns like we saw in 2023.”
Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry added: “Having gone through a thorough recruitment process over recent months, we are delighted that Nick has accepted the opportunity to lead the grounds team."
