The main event at Wedmore Golf Club was their annual general meeting last Sunday.
This was preceded by a nine-hole fun competition, which was particularly enjoyable for Ruth Rogers, Clive Warren-Smith and Peter Roberts as they won by a huge margin of 45 points.
The AGM itself started with the presentation of a cheque for almost £9,000 to Cancer Research, where the charity will continue to be supported at Wedmore for the upcoming year.
Outgoing captain Jay James was able to look back on a successful year before handing over the reigns to his successor Dave Bedford, who with new seniors and ladies captains Roberts and Lyn Bird, set off for the traditional drive-in off the first tee.
The weather has found many ways to prevent golf this winter as fog caused a halt to the Cub Winter League.
The seniors, however, were able to fit in the first round of their Winter Stableford League.
The league is played over four winter months, with the player holding the best three out of four scores winning.
Mike Smith set the pace with a fine score of 42 points to win Division Three by three from John Sims while Frank Sparks came home in third place on 34.
There were some more good scores in Division Two with Trevor Guy winning proceedings following a score of 41, one better than Charles Woodard with Chris Monks another shot behind in third place.
Steve Sage won Division One on 37, two better than Graham Sugg who beat Dom Smith on countback. Keith Thomas also posted 37 to win Division Four from Philip Springfield and David Russell.
The Ladies played in bitterly cold conditions but as always there were some good scores witj the best of all coming from Eunice Bond, Ali Mantell and Mary-Lou Denny with a score of 69. This was two points better than Carol Pinks, Joan Peck and Deidre Wheadon with Linda Roberts, Ruth Pearson and Janet Cornish in third place after a score of 64.
