ON Sunday at Brean Golf Club the Lukie Cup was finally contested after it was postponed due to the poor weather of November.
The event ended up being very much a family affair as Paul Jones won the Lukie Cup in the men's event whilst his daughter Isla took the Ladies Lukie Salver scoring 36 points.
Paul scored a very impressive 45 points to end the day 4 clear of the next best score which came from Barry Roe.
Not only was it the first ever father/daughter success but Paul became the first player in the events 30 year history to retain the Trophy.
In the Men's event each Divisional winner gets a Christmas hamper. Jones secured the Division Two hamper beating off a host of good scores, as along with Roe, Neil Barker scored 40 and Tony McCann and Simon Copping returned 39 apiece.
In any other division they would have been in contention for the top prize but were unlucky to find Jones in excellent form. Division One was won by Pete Hackett on 39 with 34 points being enough for Martyn Brown to collect the Division Three goodies beating Les Byrne on countback.
