Weston RFC head coach Dave Burge said a win over Lydney would give them “reassurance” that they are going in the right direction.
The Seasiders return to Regional 1 South West this Saturday after a two-week break for their first game of 2024.
And Burge said his side are itching to get back to action.
“We are looking forward to getting back to rugby after a nice two week break,” he said.
“It’s been good to reset and go into the new year mentally refreshed.
“Lydney will be tough as their home record is always very good. The weather will make the pitch very soft so the game could be a little slow, so our strong pack will have to take advantage especially at scrum time.”
Weston have lost their last seven games in a row and Burge said a victory will bring his side belief.
“We need confidence and a win will give us that,” he added.
“We have been developing all season but sometimes it is hard to see that without the results going our way. A win will give that reassurance that we are going in the right direction.”
