St Andrews women, defending champions of the Somerset county two-rink, continued where they let off as they eased through the first round of this year’s competition with a comfortable victory over Yeovil recently.
The away rink consisting of Judy Forse, Jane Smith, Sue Sinclair and Jean Whittaker, did particularly well to claim a victory by a large margin against their Somerset rivals.
Becky McMillan’s home team, comprising of Carolina Venn, Audrey Powell and Jackie Pitman, had a much closer match but they still pulled away to pick up a 23-11 victory.
Saints are set to play Minehead or Watchet in the next round of the competition.
Si Angove, Lee Stocker and Sam Stocker had a fine away win in the Somerset men’s triples.
The trio looked in fine form from start to finish before they produced a comfortable win to beat Corey Rendell, Andy Rendell and Ian Trunks 26-7 at Watchet.
