Weston-super-Mare AFC manager Scott Bartlett showed appreciation to his players after their 2-1 win over Chippenham Town and praised them for their resilience.
He said: “I felt on reflection I’d been a little bit harsh on the lads on Saturday. I was disappointed with the performance, and it has to be that way, but like I’ve said before we can’t ever fault their effort.
“We’ve had quite a bit to contend with in terms of injuries, like every team does, but when we’ve had a fully fit squad and the schedules been normal I think we’ve performed pretty well.
“I just felt it was the right time to tell the players that, as a manager you can be a little bit critical especially after game like Saturday’s where everything felt a little flat, but the lads have been brilliant.”
Bartlett also spoke about his team’s tough end of season run in.
He said: “It’s a bit of a killer, we’ve got four games in seven days: Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
“It’s going to be a big ask and the lads have been brilliant, but we’ve got a little bit more to do yet.
“There’s 12 points to play for and it’s important to me that we finish strong.”
