Four of Weston-super-Mare RFC’s men’s senior teams celebrated their 2024 season on Friday with their annual awards night.
Jay Davis was the big winner this year after winning both the player and player’s player awards for the 1st XV.
Openside flanker Davis made 18 appearances for the club this season and was a scoring machine, notching 65 points and 13 tries over the campaign, more than twice as many as the next best of his squad mates.
For United (2nd XV), outside centre Ollie Caton picked up the player of the year award for his 13 appearances and four tries, whilst Vinnie Jones picked up the player’s player award, the flanker made the most appearances for his side this season with 19.
Another flanker Rich Bishop won the player of the year for the Athletic (3RD XV) having made an impact in the 15 games he played, and Ryan Donegan was awarded the player’s player by his teammates.
In the Colts categories Finlay Simpson won player of the year, Sam Slingsby won player’s player of the year, and Kieran Van Rassel and Brennan Goodland picked up joint award for the being most improved players of the season.
