It was a weekend full of competitions at Brean Golf Club this weekend and the leading score of the day in Sunday's May Monthly Stableford belonged to Zak Jones.
His card of 39 points, which also included a no score at the 12th, was five clear of his nearest challenger in the top flight as Captain Elect Leighton Jenkins returned 34 points.
Pete Barton ended up third.
Tony Richards was the top dog in the Second Flight and this was a more closely contested affair.
Just a single point separated Richards from the runner up Chris Fairchild.
Steve Mason completed the top three on 35 beating Matt Haskins on countback.
Chris Baker completed the trio of winners on the day with a 37-point score in Division Three.
Baker was three clear of Dave Bradley and Tim Amy with Bradley getting second on countback over the back nine.
Craig Wheelaghan was the only player to surpass the 40-point mark in the previous day’s Super Series event.
He scored 41 stableford points to claim top spot courtesy of a 3-point advantage over Murray Parsons.
Taking third overall but also leading the way in the second division was Dave Mann who also scored 38 but had a poorer back nine score than Parsons.
Nigel Ellis was the best of a quartet of 37-point scorecards and led home Tim Amy, Nick Rich and Nigel Peatfield in taking 4th.
Both Avalon teams hit the road on the opening weekend of May and both unfortunately returned home on the end of defeats.
The A team were facing Mendip Spring and went down by a scoreline of 1.5 to 3.5.
The B Team didn't fare well at Stockwood Vale either where despite enjoying the golf course they only managed one halved game out of the five contested.
A blustery wind on the final day of the month made scoring difficult for the competitors in the April Medal.
Just one player beat his handicap and that solo sub-par shooter was Roger Hurrell who produced a nett 67 which was 6 strokes clear of his nearest challenger.
A trio of nett 73's were returned and these needed a countback to separate them.
Seniors Captain Elect Tony Oliver was placed second ahead of Tony McCann with Barry Roe just missing out.
The leading three finishers will also move forward to join Captain Tim Amy in the Sports Celebrity Am event in mid-June.
