Weston-super-Mare AFC have announced their second signing of the summer transfer window, midfielder Ollie Chamberlain from local rivals Taunton Town.

Chamberlain has been a mainstay within the Peacocks midfield across the last nine years, playing a huge part in their success which has included two promotions, two FA Cup First Round appearances, and two years in the National League South.

Describing himself as a “high intensity” player, Chamberlain is capable playing as a box-to-box midfielder, in the No.10 role, on the wing or even as a right wing-back.

Manager Scott Bartlett said: “He has been a top performer for years and again this season in tough circumstances, understandably had a lot of options and we are delighted he has chosen us as the best place for him.

“Ollie is versatile which is important to us, he has an eye for a goal and is very industrious. We think his energy, consistency and directness will add to our team.

“We explored getting him during January but he wouldn’t leave his club during the season and I admire that, he will be a real asset to us and is a top, top signing.”

Chamberlain is Weston’s second signing of the summer after securing Luke Coulson’s signature earlier this month.
