Clarence Men took on Clevedon Promenade in the cup this week and won by the smallest of margins, one shot at 37-36.

Rink of the Day was Martin Ford, Gordon Sansam and Gordon Leigh skipped by Allan Cord, who despite being in full control dropped six-shots on the last end to win by four.

Clarence also managed a good away win in a Somerset County Match against Yatton.

Winning on rink three and losing rink four, it was left to rink five to determine the outcome of the match.

By the eighth end M Ford, M Harryman and G Sansam with Skip Mick Edlin, had a five shot lead which they held throughout, helping their team to a 56-48 win.

Clarence Blues suffered their first defeat of the season this week, losing 89-95 to Nailsea, but managed to gain six valuable points.

The hardest won two points of the day came from Gordon Leigh, Phil Lewis, and Dave Clifford.

Nailsea drew level on the penultimate end, but Leigh’s men held their nerve to take a single and the match.

Clarence’s Ladies managed a couple of points against Long Aston as they lost 38-56.

Angie Skudder and Shirley Searle, skipped by Mary Davison had a purple patch of five ends scoring 12, and went on to win the match 19-11.
