Hornets RFC hosted Somerset v Yorkshire in the Bill Beaumont County Championships this weekend as three hometown players hit major milestones in their county careers.
Although it was not the result Somerset would’ve been hoping for, they narrowly lost 31-33 against a strong Yorkshire side, three Hornets players reached impressive appearance figures for the Somerset County team.
Long time Hornets Hayden Tuttiett and Charlie Carter have already made well over 100 appearances each for the club and both of them picked up their caps for achieving a fantastic 25 appearances for the County.
Carter was the Hornets’ top try scorer by far this season after notching 12 tries, three more than his closest competitor, and Tuttiett made sure to contribute his own as he scored five on his way to 25 points for the season.
The third Hornet to reach a milestone for Somerset was Jamie Elwood who received a badge for making his fifth county appearance.
The youngster was the only player to outscore Carter this season, tallying up 130 points after consistent kicking from both penalties and conversions all campaign.
