Winscombe CC lost by 100 runs on their away trip to a strong North Perrott side this weekend.
The home side had elected to bat, and it was quickly apparent as to why.
Perrott’s opening line up took them to a quick 85-3 before James Salaman came in to hit an unbeaten 108, ably helping his team all the way to 245-7 from the full 45 overs.
Liam Cureton was the pick of the Winscombe’s bowlers as he took 2-33 from his nine overs, whilst Jory Cureton and Jack Fraser followed closely after also taking two wickets apiece.
Winscombe came into bat knowing there was a steep mountain to climb but they started off strong, with opening pair Nathan Kemp and Fraser combining for 41 runs before their dismissals.
Robert Bradley was then caught for 10 to make it 71-3 before four further wickets for minimal runs took Winscombe to 78-7 and stopped Winscombe’s ascent.
Tailenders Hugo Bradbury and Mike Coe put on a valiant effort, hitting 23 and 33 respectively, but it was not to be as the away team were toppled for 145 and consigned to the 100-run defeat.
Winscombe will now face Long Sutton at home on June 1st as they search for their first league win of the season.
