There was plenty going at Clarence Bowling Club this week with a mixed bag of results as both teams lost games but picked up wins elsewhere.

Firstly, Clarence are through to the next round of the ‘4 Dimensions’ KO cup as they won 73-63 away to Portishead.

As it was all square with two winning rinks each and decided on shots, rink of the day goes to Derek Sims, John Whitehouse and Tony Mannion skipped by Gordon Owen.

After being a couple down after four ends, Owen’s men had a three-end purple patch and took a four-shot lead, which they maintained and increased their lead to win by 12-shots.

There was an outstanding away win for Clarence in the Tony Allcock Competition as they won 42-18 against Ashcombe.

They won both rinks, the best of which came from Janet Field, Ken Marshall and Mick Edlin alongside Skip Carol Edlin, they picked up 12-shots in the first six-ends and never looked back as they ran out with a 17-shot win.

Lyn Leigh and Christine Hooper had home advantage in their tense ‘Ladies Over 55s County Pairs’ match against Long Ashton.

It was nip and tuck all the way until the penultimate end where it was all square at 17 apiece, all on the last end, the Ladies held their nerve taking a three and win the match 20-17.

Their next Match be at home to Nailsea on the June 10th.

The Blues completed their double over Winscombe in this Over 55s league match taking 16 of the 20 points on offer.

Rink of the Day goes to Martin Field and Gordon Sansam skipped by Bob Sweet taking the lead from the start, eight up after six-ends, 13 up after 12 , and running out with a win of 17.
