Students from Weston-super-Mare’s Kuk Sool Won academy travelled to Norwich for a European tournament, black belt testing, and master’s demonstration.
Kuk Sool is a Korean martial arts style that combines kicking, throwing, grappling, meditation methods and more from various martial art techniques throughout history into one comprehensive system.
In the grading session of the trip two Weston students were assessed.
JKN Jake did an excellent job during his grading and is now well on his way to promotion to KSN, or second-degree black belt.
Sophia also earnt her first-degree black belt and will no doubt be looking to continue upwards on her Kuk Sool journey.
In the competitions Weston had six students competing across five different disciplines.
PSBN Charlotte came 2nd in techniques, 3rd in forms, and 4th in short kicks.
Sophia came 2nd in form, 2nd in sparring, 2nd in staff, and 3rd in techniques.
Jaydon came 4th in techniques and forms, whilst Ashton and Sophie both came 3rd in techniques, and Orson came 2nd in forms.
After the event instructor SBN Alison Rogers said: “I hope all students that went to Norwich will come home with fantastic memories from a great experiences and it will motivate everyone to keep working hard!”
