Uphill Castle CC were led by an 81-run outing from George Cox as they pushed their way past Castle Cary to win by two wickets in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League.
Cox’s 81 was followed up by an important unbeaten half century from Paddy Holyday, who partnered Cox for much of his game high hit as well as being the man who eventually pulled them across the match winning mark.
Cary opened the batting and managed 179 runs from the full 45 overs after losing nine wickets.
Ashley Allen took 3-25 for Uphill from his nine overs and Chare Smith went 2-27 as Cary just managed to survive the full number of overs and the teams swapped roles.
Chare Smith opened and hit 20 runs before he was dismissed in the 6th over and Castle found themselves 22-3, but it opened the way for Cox to attack.
He hit 11 fours on his way to 81 runs off 67 balls before he was bowled by Daniel Lake to take Uphill all the way to 137-6.
Hitting partner Holyday was then on hand to take Uphill to their 183 total and give them the two-wicket victory eight overs early.
