Claverham CC hosted Mark CC last Thursday in the Weston and District Midweek League’s match of the week, with the away team winning by 44 runs after a half-century hit from Dan Giblett.
Mark opened up the batting and were led by Giblett’s 50 runs off 39 balls, which included three fours and three sixes, until he had to retire due to league rules at the end of the 15th over.
Tim Moxey added 19 runs and Dan Worthington hit 17 for Mark as they fought their way to a strong 139-8 after the full 20 overs.
Amelia James posted Clav’s best figures as she took 2-30 from her four overs, whilst Lucy Ashman and Cameron Martin also took two wickets each during their spells.
Claverham came into bat but were never really able to match the run rate needed to reach the 139 target.
The first of Clav’s batsmen fell in the 4th over as they went to 15-1 and from there the wickets tumbled consistently, with them eventually being bowled out for 98 in the 18th over.
Adam Hadfield, 18, scored the best for Claverham whilst Joe Selway took 3-25 from his four overs to help Mark on their way to the 44-run win.
