East Huntspill CC welcomed Congresbury CC to their ground in this week’s Weston and District Midweek League match of the week.
The Division 2 sides met on a cool Tuesday night and were evenly matched for most of the game but Jack Kearns’ 3-2 bowling figures and unbeaten 50 pushed Congresbury to a three-wicket win.
Huntspill started the match batting and managed 131-runs all out from the full 20 overs.
Their batsman initially struggled as Congresbury’s bowlers removed their first six wickets for 36 runs, but them home team were helped along by 30 runs from Callum Pope and 26 from Archie Sturdy late in the game to take them to 131.
Kearns had the best bowling spell for Congresbury as he took 3-2 from two overs, including two in a row in the seventh over, while Oliver Hewlett and Peter Woodland added two more each.
Congresbury then came into bat and, despite having only three batters make double digits, reached their winning total of 135.
Toby Lawrence’s 52 runs from 34 balls was added to by Kearns’ 50, also from 34 balls, to pull Congresbury to the three-wicket victory early in the 18th over.
