Wrington Cricket Club were subject to a heavy defeat by local rivals Nailsea this weekend after their batting line-up could only muster 83 runs, seeing them lose by seven wickets.
Wrington batted first and only two players could manage double digit scores.
Opener Mike Clements managed 32 runs whilst tailender Kris Giles added 14 more as their teammates fell consistently around them, with all 10 wickets falling for 83 runs after just 26 overs.
Wrington’s batsmen were not helped by an on-form Nailsea bowling line up that included a white-hot Ian Sherreard,
Sherreard took 6-13 in the game from his eight overs, a spell which included two wicket maidens and a double wicket maiden, and pressured Wrington’s batsmen, making it hard for them to play off the square.
Nailsea came into bat and quickly reached the winning total whilst losing just three wickets along the way.
There was a brief glimpse of hope for Wrington as Daniel Pashley took the first wicket three balls into the innings, but Nailsea went on to comfortably reach their 85 run total in just 17.4 overs and hand Wrington a big seven-wicket loss.
