Uphill Castle Cricket Club recorded a great three-wicket home win against Bridgwater CC 3rd team this weekend as they bowled the visitors out for 143 runs.

Castle fielded first and their bowlers’ delivered overs with line and length, producing six maidens during their innings and having three bowlers take three wickets each.

They also made it hard for Bridgwater to clear the centre square, producing six maidens during their bowling spell.

George Cox, 3-26 from nine overs, took the first of the day in the sixth over with Himesha Halneththige, 3-22 from eight overs, and Markus Bail, 3-36 from nine, joining Cox on hat-tricks as they worked together to topple Bridgwater’s batters for 143 after 37 overs, including a run-out for the last wicket.

Castle came into bat with their eyes on the target score and a quickfire 57 off 42 balls from Chare Smith, which included 11 fours, got them off to a perfect start.

Cox came in at four to add 18 runs with Tommi Davis at six doing the same, before Keiran Chapman’s 21 took Castle over the edge in the 21st over to claim a brilliant three-wicket win.
