Cheddar CC hosted Mark CC in last week’s Match of the Week in the Weston and District Midweek league, and the home team came out on top by just three runs.
Cheddar batted first and were led by Man of the Match Charlie White’s top score of 30 runs.
White was ably supported by captain Max Marshman’s 15, Jimmy Clark’s 13, and 10 from both Luc Griffiths and Richard Llewellyn as the team combined for 99 runs from 19.5 overs.
Joe Knocker was the pick of Mark’s bowlers as he took 3-31 from 3.5 overs, including Cleeve’s last wicket, whilst Nathan Giblett and Rory Burne took braces from their four overs apiece.
Mark came into bat and were led by James Davies’ 20, Daniel Giblett’s 15, and Edward Lamb’s 14 as they matched the required run rate.
However, some great all-round bowling for Cheddar saw them hold Mark to just three runs below the total target.
White took figures of 3-24 from four overs, Adam Butcher took 2-6, Marshman took 2-27, whilst Ryan and Richard Llewellyn took one wicket each to hold Mark to 96 runs from their full 20 overs and claim a narrow three-wicket win.
