Weston-super-Mare AFC have played their first two pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2024/25 season this week and have been looking in fine form.
First up The Seagulls took on Exeter City at The Optima Stadium on Friday night before travelling away to Gloucester to play Slimbridge AFC on Tuesday evening for the club’s seven pre-season games.
It was a battle against Exeter that ended up in a 1-1 stalemate between the two sides.
The League One side opened the scoring up early through a strike in the third minute from Yanic Wildschut before new signee Luke Coulson levelled it up for Weston just four minutes later in a lightning quick start to the game.
As both teams altered their line-ups during the friendly fixture neither could find a breakthrough, leaving Weston with an impressive 1-1 draw against professional competition.
Scott Bartlett and his men then travelled to Slimbridge on Tuesday and picked up a 2-0 win in the mid-week pre-season game.
A brace from James Dodd, scoring in the 13th and 89th minutes, was enough to earn The Seagulls an emphatic win.
They now go onto face Tiverton Town away on July 20th, kick-off 3:00pm.
