Victoria Bowling’s Men’s A team go to the top of their division with a win over Watchet this week.
The Premier One Victoria ‘A’ men’s team made the away trip looking to continue their good form.
The Westonians were given a great start when the S Davies, A Kimitri, B Johnson and A Bradley won 23-15.
However, the match remained in the balance and went down to the very last wood on the green.
With the match all square Watchet held the shot with Dan Nutt still to bowl and with every player from both sides watching, Dan produced a wonder shot to change the head and give the Vic two shots and a three shot win 61-58.
Dan’s rink featured D Carpenter, D Wheatley and P Sloman.
The result incredibly lifted Victoria into joint top of the league, a magnificent achievement.
Last Saturday morning Victoria Whites ladies produced an excellent home win against Ashcombe, winning two out of the three rinks and outscoring their opponents 51-42.
Best winners on the day were the B Williams rink of D Callister and E Williams who won 22-12, whilst the other triple of B Jones, J Hartree and R Cleeves won 19-14.
Tuesday saw Victoria host St Andrews in the Wedmore Plate in a match that turned a little one sided with Victoria triumphing 96-42.
Top rink was C Heal, A Kimitri, J Newman, and D Fairhurst 30-05, next up S Davies, R Rockett, K Burgess and A Bradley won 33-9 and finally D Nutt, D Carpenter, D Wheatley and P Sloman won 22-8.
Victoria ladies welcomed Ashcombe again in the Fear Plate on Friday and bowled superbly to win 70-35 and 3-0 overall.
I Cracknell, T Miles, C Sage and B Williams laid the foundations for the victory by winning 30-7.
They were backed up by K Wilson, M Kelly, M Hawkins and S Sokol who won 21-13 and S Cooper, J Hartree, N Whyte, and F Waters who won 19-15.
Finally on Saturday Victoria ‘A’ welcomed Bath hoping to keep their good form going.
However, the visitors had other ideas and in the wet conditions seemed to adapt best to the green to win 45-60.
The one highlight for the Vic was the excellent rink of D Nutt, D Carpenter, D Wheatley and P Sloman came back from a bad start to win 18-15 and keep their amazing winning run continuing.
