After Weston-super-Mare AFC’s 1-1 draw with Bristol City’s u21s for Ray Cashley’s testimonial Seagulls manager Scott Bartlett spoke about the game.
He said: “Look, I’m happy with the performance. I feel like we shouldn’t let an under-21s team back in the game.
“The result didn’t matter today but if that was a league game I’d be disappointed because we did have the opportunities to be two, three, four ahead probably with some really good chances.
“I did feel it was too easy to get a corner from us first half, we’re normally really good from set plays, but we’re happy with the night’s work.
“We’ve come through the game unscathed, the lads have put another shift in, there was a good crowd, and we got a good look at some of their young players.
“But yeah, just a little bit disappointed we didn’t put it to bed early but that’s just the emotional reaction to the game.”
The Weston squad will now face another academy in Cardiff City u21s for another pre-season game on July 27, kick-off 1:00pm.
Bartlett said on the game: “We’ll get the players in, speak with the staff, look at the data, and there will be some tweaks. It’s just another extension of training for us.”
