Cleeve Cricket Club 2nds cemented their position at the top of Division 8 West after a comfortable away win over Bristol 4ths.
After opting to field first, initial efforts from Cleeve’s opening pairing were fruitless.
The tide changed when John Hance, a veteran playing his first season, removed Bird for 11, with Cam Elswood catching.
Following a rocky start, Cleeve's bowling regained momentum, ending Bristol's innings at 164-9 after the allotted 40 overs.
Responding to Bristol's score, Dan Jones and Dan Dixon set a substantial base with 58 runs before Dixon's dismissal.
Despite a minor falter at 65-3, skipper George Parsons bolstered the innings, contributing a 45 in just 39 balls.
Jones demonstrated commendable skill, scoring 81 without dismissal, and with aid from Ellis Turner, Cleeve surpassed Bristol's total in the 33rd over.
This emphatic win takes Cleeve to a significant 29-point lead at the top of the league.
Cricketers and fans alike will expect another scintillating performance in the upcoming home match against Bedminster 5ths next Saturday.
