It has been a very successful week for Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club as three of their senior men’s sides picked up big wins.
Weston’s 1st XI took on Wellington at home and recorded a big four wicket win to move to sixth in the WEPL Prem 2 Bristol/Somerset Division.
A great bowling performance from Weston skittled Wellington for 141 in 36 overs.
Tahmid Ahmed took 4-50, Shabel Ahmed added his 3-32, whilst Harvey Richards, Lachie Bailey, and Charlie Cunningham all took one more each.
In reply Weston knocked off the 142 needed runs in 28 overs with Jack Press top-scoring for the team with 26 runs.
Weston’s 2nd XI took home a 72-run win as they beat Wiveliscombe away.
An opening hit of 219 from Weston, courtesy of 94 runs from Dom Mayo and 75 from Jason Neave, proved too much for Wiveliscombe as they only managed 147 runs.
Weston’s bowling was led by Harry Gadsden, Sreeraj Ramachandran, and CK Jinesh Kumar who all took three wickets apiece.
Finally, Weston’s 4th XI played Taunton Deane’s 4th XI and won by 26 runs.
Weston were led by 76 runs off the bat of Simon Turner as they hit 190, whilst Will Hughes led the way in the bowling with his 3-32.
