Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club has officially opened its new outdoor cricket facility.
It comes after the club received a generous grant from the Valencia Communities Fund via the Landfill Communities Fund.
The funding has been used to replace the 20-year-old nets with a state-of-the-art facility and two artificial cricket surfaces.
England star Lauren Filler was on hand to unveil the new additions to Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club.
The transformation of the cricket club, which also includes a thriving ladies' and girls' section, was wholeheartedly welcomed by members and local communities.
This project was not just a refurbishment but a significant upgrade, expected to enhance the quality of cricket and attract more stars in the making.
Club chair Jon Mayo said: "The club has been fundraising for several years with the intention of making improvements but without the support of Valencia Communities Fund, we would never have been able to install such a high-quality facility.
"We hope this will enable us to continue providing high quality cricket within the Weston Community and produce more stars of the future like our very own Lauren Filer."
The cricket club is not only home to senior teams playing league cricket on Saturdays but also boasts a vibrant youth section.
It runs programmes for kids aged five to eight, and eight to 11, who are all eager to learn the game.
The new facility is hoped to upgrade the experience for all players, old and new.
