Victoria Bowls Club women have advanced to the Southey Cup final after a trio of pulsating contests.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the week was the closely contested semi-final for the Ladies.
The thrills began on July 7 when, Victoria Ladies thrilled in the Weston District League.
Their match against Wedmore ended in an extraordinary 72-37 victory away from home, led by S Sokol, A Culpeck and J Arthur-Almond with a splendid 36-5 win.
P Taylor, J Apps and S Cooper added another 26-10 to secure the victory.
The same day, the Victoria Saxons clashed with Wedmore at the Quadrant.
An intense back-and-forth game ended in a narrow 92-91 win, securing the Saxons 14 points.
The successful teams included J Newman, R Rockett and R Crawford (22-13), and Captain P Owen, H Whyte and D Wheatley (19-10).
The week's climax came on July 10, during the important Southey Cup semi-final.
It was held at Chew Stoke and saw a mighty contest between four-time winners, Ilminster, and the determined Victoria Ladies.
The brilliant Imogen Cracknell gave Victoria an exceptional start with a singles win of 21-2.
The impressive pair, Sue Cooper and Dot Gibbs, then took their game 30-10 whilst S Sokol, M Slavin, B Williams and P Taylor's quartet ended with a draw of 15-15.
These results secured a final victory of 80-49 for Victoria Ladies, an outstanding performance to reach the finals of the Southey Cup.
