Winscombe Bowling Club teams demonstrate solid performances in the County League as the season nears its end.
With only one game left to play for most squads, all three teams will secure a mid-table spot in their respective divisions.
The Winscombe A team, newly promoted to Premier League 2, has solidified their position.
Meanwhile, the B team is on course for a respectable 6th-place finish in Division Two North.
The club's newcomer team, the C team, still holds the opportunity to secure 4th in the Division 3 league.
On August 17, the A team lost at Yeovil, scoring 54 points to 70.
Despite the loss, players A Rowe, C Greenwood, C Bryant, and M Adams showed commendable effort, losing by only one point in their match (22-21).
The B team, however, was victorious at home against Yatton, securing a 10 to 2 triumph.
Notable performances by Brian Paul and Graham Neville fortified the win with a score of 75 to 43.
The C Team unfortunately suffered defeat at home to Mark Moor, ending the game 34 to 70.
Nonetheless, of note, team members A Broadbent, R Bolton, J Hart, and L V Haaren emerged victorious in their match, achieving a 19 -10 victory.
In the Weston Over 55's League, the Winscombe Pioneers achieved a rare win, bumping them up the league ranks.
The team achieved commendable wins on four rinks and collected 16 points with a total score of 115-87.
The ladies' teams also showcased significant improvement, playing two league games.
In a home match against Portishead in the NSTL, Winscombe triumphed by 14 shots, with a final score of 61 - 47.
In the following friendly game, S Carson, J Atkinson, and Y Greenwood fell short with a loss of 16 to 24.
Despite a close match against Ashcombe away in the Wessex League, Winscombe lost with a narrow one-point margin.
The 43 - 44 outcome, however, still awarded them 4 points for their efforts.
These results reveal a promising trajectory for Winscombe Bowling Club, reflecting not only the players' improving skills but also their undeterred spirits.
