A YOUNG boxer from Weston-super-Mare has again proved why he's one of the south west's most promising talents.
Louis Merreywether won his third professional contest in Swindon on Saturday (September 7), unanimously outpointing veteran Nabil Ahmed.
The 23-year-old, who was granted his first professional licence in December 2023, demonstrated his superior ring craft throughout the six-round bout.
He controlled the pace and showcased the skills that have made him a rising star in the sport.
Merreywether, stepping up to six rounds for the first time in his career, handled the extended distance with ease, proving his fitness and strength.
The breakthrough moment came in the fifth round when he hurt his opponent with a sharp combination, further asserting his dominance and leaving little doubt about the outcome.
After the fight, Merreywether was quick to dedicate the win to his loyal supporters, many of whom had travelled to Swindon to cheer him on.
He said: "This victory is for my travelling support.
"Their backing means everything to me and I can tell they had a brilliant night.
"It's like a football away day, everyone travelling together and enjoying high quality sport."
With his perfect record intact, Merreywether, eager to perform in front of his local fans, called for a hometown fight in the near future.
He said: "I want to bring a fight to Weston-super-Mare. It would be amazing to fight in front of a big crowd of supporters."
Merreywether aims to become Weston-super-Mare’s first professional boxing champion.
