Weston-super-Mare AFC have announce forward Sam Pearson has joined the club following his departure from National League Premier side Yeovil Town.
Sam’s deal will run until the end of the 2025/2026 campaign.
The 22-year-old has previous Football League, National League & National League South experience, having appeared for Bristol City, AFC Wimbledon, Yeovil Town and Bath.
He helped the Romans reach the National League South playoffs in 2019, and played a major part as Yeovil won the National League South title in 2024.
The lightning-quick youngster has already played a big part in Yeovil’s start to their National League Premier campaign, scoring one goal and assisting three in just five starts for the Glovers this term.
Sam’s deal is still subject to FA and league approval.
Manager Scott Bartlett said: "Sam is a brilliant signing for us, he is very quick, has excellent quality and is versatile which is important to us.
“I can categorically say that there was no falling out at Yeovil, he was struggling a bit with the daily round trip to Yeovil from Cardiff and Mark & Martin Hellier have acted in Sam’s best interests.
“He has turned down a lot of clubs to sign for us, and I am delighted he has chosen us as the best place for the next stage in his development.
“I am sure you will join me in welcoming Sam and his family to WsM AFC."
Sam said: "I’m happy to be here, I can’t wait to get started, I just want to get back playing football with a smile on my face playing week in, week out.
“I’m a very forward-thinking player, I’m quick, I like to get at my man and express myself on the pitch”."
Pearson joined the Bristol City Academy in March 2016 at under-14 level and progressed through the ranks at Ashton Gate, first appearing for their Under-18s and Under-23s during the 2017/2018 season while still a 16-year-old.
He began a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2018, and spent the final month of the 18/19 season on loan at National League South side Bath City where he was an unused substitute twice.
He returned to National League South club Bath City during the 2019-2020 season, where he went on to appear 22 times and score twice for the Romans, helping them into the National League South Playoffs.
Sam then headed out to National League South side Weymouth on loan during 2020-2021, but didn’t feature for the Terras due to Covid.
Upon his return to Ashton Gate, the young winger featured in five first-team games for the club under the tutelage of Nigel Pearson towards the end of the 2020-2021 season.
In January 2022, he was on the move again, this time joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle on loan until the end of the campaign. During his period north of the border, he netted one goal in eight appearances before his loan was cut short in April due to personal reasons.
In July 2022, he joined National League Premier side Yeovil Town on a one-month loan, which was then extended until January. During his period at Huish Park, he scored two goals in 13 games for the club.
He got his first regular taste of senior football when joining League Two side AFC Wimbledon in January 2023 until the end of the campaign, making 16 appearances for the Dons.
In January 2024, he agreed to the mutual termination of his contract at Bristol City and joined National League South side Yeovil Town permanently. He scored five goals in 29 appearances, as well as helping the Glovers win the National League South title. Pearson departed Yeovil earlier this week due to personal reasons.
He also has experience on the international stage, having featured for Wales U17s, U19s, U20s and U21s.
