Weston-super-Mare AFC extended their unbeaten run to 14 games after a tight 0-0 draw with Boreham Wood at home on Saturday (October 19).
Both sides appeared to cancel each other out in a game of few clear-cut chances in this National League South clash at the Optima Stadium.
The Seagulls made four changes from the side that beat Lowestoft Town in the FA Cup the previous week as Kieran Thomas, Jordan Bastin, Dylan Kadji and new signing Sam Pearson came in.
The game started as meant to go on with both sides being quite cagey to begin with but Boreham Wood were the first to get settled and forced the first shot on target on eight minutes.
However, shortly before that, it could have been a disaster at the back, as the BW goalkeeper and one of his defenders had a miscommunication but Rueben Reid was unable to capitalise.
Weston carved out their first chance on 20 minutes when a ball up the line was flicked on by Luke Coulson and new signing Pearson got on the end of it but dragged his shot wide.
The Weston shot seemed shock Breham wood into action as the Seagulls defence had to be aware to block a couple of shots and then Cameron Coxe cut inside from the right but his shot was well saved by Max Harris.
On 27 minutes, the visitors carved out another shot as the ball is worked to the edge of the Weston area but Harris was able to catch the shot comfortably.
On 35 minutes, Jacob Cane picked up the ball for Weston on the right and his cross-come-shot drifted wide of the upright.
At half time, Boreham Wood made a couple changes with Mo Sagae and Tyrone Marsh both coming on for Junior Dixon and Abdul Abdulmalik.
The Weston fans in the AltoDigital Stand found their voice after a ball forward was nodded into the path of Reid by Pearson but his shot went wide.
After Boreham Wood made another change with David Agbonthoma coming on for Cameron Coxe, Weston had another chance as Jordan Bastin’s effort was blocked on the line.
On 69 minutes, Max Harris in the Weston goal was called into action as a free kick in a central position from Tom Whelan was tipped over the bar.
Weston manager Scott Bartlett sent Nick McCootie on for the last 15 minutes in an attempt to force a win but despite McCootie being inches away from connecting with a cross, the scores remained 0-0 at full time.
